The 19th of January in Russia is a religious holiday called "Epiphany." Somehow, every year without fail the weather dramatically worsens around this exact time during the Epiphany as if to test the Russians' bravery and perseverance during this sacred holiday. This worsening of the weather conditions is called "Epiphany Frosts" (or Kreschenskie morozy).
